The XXth International Congress of Ornithology (Ornithology is the scientific study of birds), to be held in Christchurch, New Zealand,in December, 1990, will attract leading scientists in avian biology from throughout the World. An American delegation of 35-40 scientists is being selected, organized and sponsored by the American Ornithologists' Union (AOU); the delegation is jointly funded by the AOU and the National Science Foundation. The American Scientists will participate in symposia, workshops, and meetings covering the breadth of avian biology: general biology, systematics, evolution, ornithogeography, behavior, ecology and conservation. The International Congress provides a forum for the exchange of scientific knowledge and fosters international cooperation in important areas such as conservation of endangered species.
