This award provides partial support for participation by U.S. scientists in the Stockholm conference on "Changing Global Patterns of Industrial Research and Development", organized by Prof. Fussfeld, Rensselaer Politechnic Institute. The conference will examine the effects changes of an international scale, expected to occur over the next few years, will have on industrial research and development. Two of those major changes will the the formation of a unified European market in 1992 and the increased intra-European cooperation in R&D in programs such as EUREKA, ESPRIT, RACE etc. Based on discussions, findings, and background papers of the conference, the Principal Investigator will write a report on the potential impact of the European changes in 1992 on U.S.-European international, academic scientific cooperation.
