The Use of Energy Principles to Evaluate Soil Liquefaction Under Random Shear Loading

本研究的主要目的包括：1.在前人研究的基础上，通过在扭剪试验台上对颗粒土进行室内试验，确定土体发生液化所需的单位能级：2.确定随机荷载下液化所需的能级，并与正弦荷载下所需的能级进行比较；3.根据土壤特性与能量水平以及设计地震的时间序列之间的关系，开发和验证确定土壤沉积物液化势的合理方法。验证程序将包括分析地震期间获得的时间序列和孔隙水压力发展记录。

The main objectives of this study include: 1. To expand on a previous study and determine required unit energy levels imparted to a soil to induce liquefaction through laboratory testing of granular soils in the torsional shear device; 2. To determine the energy levels required for liquefaction under random loading, and compare them to the ones needed under sinusoidal loading; 3. To develop and validate a rational procedure to determine the liquefaction potential of soil deposits based on relationships between soil characteristics and energy levels, along with time series of design earthquakes. The validation procedure will include the analysis of time series and pore water pressure development records obtained during earthquakes.
