9318795 Marton-Lefevre Support is provided for the International Council of Scientific Unions (ICSU) to establish a full-time senior position as ICSU Staff Officer for Environment and Earth System Research. This senior staff officer will support ICSU's activities related to the environment and earth system research by (a) staffing the work of ICSU's Advisory Committee on the Environment (ACE); (b) assisting ICSU (and ACE) to promote and encourage the planning, development and implementation of scientific programs in response to needs identified by the Ascend 21 report produced by the United Nations Conference on the Environment and Development (UNCED); (c) developing and maintaining effective linkages between ICSU and the major international global change research programs and their staff offices; and (d) assisting in assuring effective coordination among the environment/earth system science-related activities of the various ICSU unions and committees. ***
