GOALI: An Extended Visit to IBM

St. Edwards University CISE/GOALI: An Extended Visit to IBM GOALI(Grants Opportunities Liaison with Industry) funding of $16,795 has been awarded to St. Edward's University as partial support for Dr. Kopec on a sabbatical leave visit to IBM Corporation during the Fall Semester, 1997. Dr. Kopec is completing his term as Dean of the School of Natural Sciences at S.Edward's University and will be re-focussing on teaching and research in computer science(CS). He has arranged to join IBM's AIX development group where he will work on a number of projects related to the development of the AIX operating system. The GOALI initiative has a number of objectives, one of which is to support a faculty member in the development of creative modes of collaborative interactions with industry. Dr. Kopec will be strengthening an existing relationship with IBM AIX development system specialists, creating RISC laboratory application for CS courses, and implementing an undergraduates CS research program.
