An Investigation into Crystallization and the Subsequent Inelastic Response of Semi-Crystalline Polymers from a Continuum Perspective

从连续体角度研究半晶聚合物的结晶和随后的非弹性响应

基本信息

项目摘要

Semicrystalline polymers find a variety of uses in the industry due to their ability to undergo large deformations while retaining their toughness. The mechanical, electrical, and optical properties of these polymers are affected by their processing conditions; in particular the temperature induced crystallization. One factor tat plays a major role is the abrupt change in material symmetry caused by temperature induced crystallization. A theoretically rigorous framework for studying the temperature-induced crystallization is being developed. This framework provides a basic for reliable numerical predictions that affect a number of industrial applications including fiber spinning, film blowing, and molding and extrusion processes.
