The previous C1-C3 projects will be merged into one geo-archaeological project, C1. The new C1 aims to model and reconstruct palaeoenvironments and related human behaviour (land use and mobility) as well as associated population dynamics in the Western Mediterranean during the last 50 ka. The project has a vast data set to its disposal including some 550 archaeological sites and geological archives. The project will focus on three time slices that yielded evidence for significant population turnover (50-40 ka BP, LGM, Holocene). In collaboration with E6, GIS analyses and further modelling approaches will be employed to investigate human-environment interactions and human population turnovers in the past.
