EIA-0082001Shim, JungMississippi State UniversityITR: E-business and Business Telecommunications CenterThis proposed research is for planning the development and expansion ofresearch, training, and education in electronic business (e-business) andtelecommunications of an information systems program. Collaborativeresearch, enhanced course offerings, equipment, and industry partnershipswould result in new methods for educating citizens in informationtechnology (IT), expand the supply of entrants into IT professional jobs,and increase the breadth and depth of existing computer science,information systems, and marketing programs. Research intelecommunications would be expanded to involve experimentation with remoteteleconferencing systems to conduct IT work. Other foci include anywhere,anytime training over the Internet and experimentation with theeffectiveness of video distance training methodologies. The overall goalwould be to expand education and training efforts to form a regional centerfor the production of bachelor degree students with concentrations ine-commerce and telecommunications along with technical Internet-orientedcoursework. In addition, faculty and graduate students would haveopportunities to extend their training through telecommunications ande-business oriented training workshops.
