The focus of the project is on the correlation of artificially generated magnetic domains and domain wall configurations with the magneto-dynamic response of magnetic micro- and nanostructures. By introducing different magnetization configurations, the effective magnetic properties of large area thin film structures, then acting as a unique effective magnetic media, will be tailored and the corresponding behavior will be investigated. Using various methods of magnetic domain control, the dynamic magnetization response, the dynamic magnetic permeability, and related spin wave behavior will be influenced. Variable magnetization configurations are set by periodic micro- and nanopatterning, also in combination with thermal post-processing. Various approaches for generating such structures are investigated, by which the foundations for optimized functionality in the area of applied magnetization dynamics will be established. The main focus is on switchable high-frequency characteristics of large-area micro- and nanoscale structures.
