Interdisciplinary (99)This project is developing a course titled Reading, Writing - Energy (RW-E), which is an enhancement of a freshman natural science core curriculum course (titled ENGR 101-Energy: Resources, Utilization, and Implications for Society). The project is designing the instructional materials for energy sustainability which are being included in the course and which are satisfying the freshman core curriculum writing requirement. Additionally, the PIs are applying innovative teaching methods including calibrated peer review and the use of undergraduate peer teachers. A diverse instructional team from several disciplines and from the TAMU Center for Teaching Excellence is being involved in course delivery, including both graduate and undergraduate students. The project is being assessed utilizing internal and external methods, including weekly evaluation sessions with the entire teaching team, and an outcomes based assessment involving articulating learning outcomes, implementing methods to achieve these outcomes, gathering and interpreting data and models an existing evidenced based decision making process being used campus-wide.
