Intellectual MeritThis proposal seeks funds for continued curation, outreach, and data management activities for cores obtained on Ocean Drilling Program Legs 150X and 174AX. The Rutgers Core Repository has been designated an official Integrated Ocean Drilling Program repository and is currently archiving these cores and others from the New Jersey coastal region that were collected with co-mingled funds. Rutgers University has committed to providing support to the Core Repository, which includes providing facility maintenance and improvements.Broader ImpactsThe proposal outlines a considerable outreach effort to advertise the availability of Ocean Drilling Program cores from Legs 150X and 174AX for use by the scientific community. In addition, collaborations will be developed with the Rutgers Geology Museum to provide the public access to scientists and information on the cores through museum exhibits about the Core Repository. Finally a web page will be developed for K-12 outreach.
