The Provisional Central Power was the executive power of the National Constituent Assembly during the German Revolution of 1849 / 49. By founding it the Frankfurt Parliament pretended in appeal to the sovereignty of the people the highest authority in Germany especially in respect of the federal states. After the dissolution of the Constituent Assembly in spring 1849 the Central Power took part in the struggle of power over the future formation of a German national state. The edition will not only document this politics of the Central Power but it will also detect the working of the first parliamentary government in Germany. In the same time the Central Power has had to build its bureaucracy, to recruit its personal and care for its funding. In the focus of constitutional history this will be a peculiar attractiveness. The edition will consist of the records of the sessions of the ministry, a selection of condensed files of the departments and papers of ministers and the Administrator of the Reich.
