Excavations at Tell Sheikh Hassan/Syria - Final Publication Volume II Uruk Period: Architecture and Stratigraphy

In January 2013 the groundwork has been laid for the final publication of volume II of the excavation results from Tell Sheikh Hassan/Syria, Urukzeit: Stratigrafie und Architektur (The Uruk Period: Stratigraphy and Architecture). Due to unforeseeable extra work arising from the initial steps the program as formulated in the first application had to be modified and much enlarged (see: Beschreibung des Vorhabens Pkt. 1). The project consists thus in the continued preparation of volume II, where the topics stratigraphy and architecture will be conclusively handled. To that end, several items need to be completed, in detail: further plans and profiles must be digitalized using the drawing program QGIS; plans of individual phases and levels need to be drawn, evaluated and described; the evaluation of the documentation including descriptions of findings, sketches pertaining to those topics and photographic material must be completed. In addition, the small finds of the campaigns 1989-1997 shall be added to the Tell Sheikh Hassan database so that the objects can be inventoried and may be accessed via the database of the Vorderasiatisches Museum.
