Building on the outcome of a project on violence and suicide among young males in juvenile prisons the research incl. the proven methodology will be extended on young women in prison. There is hardly any specific research on young female prisoners in Germany. In particular, the knowledge on violence and suicide is very poor. Longitudinal data on the female prisoners will enable the research team to compare it with data on the male prisoners. It is expected to gain valuable knowledge on the phenomena as well as on the gender-specific processes in prison.
