This is a project in the field of geometry and topology. The goal is a classification of closed smooth manifolds that admit both smooth circle actions and Riemannian metrics of positive scalar curvature, including the cases of isometric actions and actions not compatible with the metric. The investigation will be based on topological, geometric and index theoretic methods.
