Digitization of historical newspapers- coordination of pilot projects

The altogether seven subprojects aim to test several procedures of newspaper digitization, to increase the number of digitized German newspapers by 1.5 Mio pages and, most important, to fundamentally improve the information infrastructures within the years 2013-1015. To reach these aims, new workflows (Goobi.Presentation for newspapers, DFG-viewer for newspapers) and improved recording infrastructures (newspaper viewer in the ZDB - the database for serial titles) are implemented. The task of the coordinator will be the evaluation, aggregation and comparison of project results and the development of a masterplan "Digitization of historical newspapers".
