The main objective of this proposal entitled Rapid Prototyping of microstructured ceramic and metal parts by Powder Fused Deposition modeling is the development of a novel process chain for the realization of ceramic or metal components with geometric features in the range of less than 100 µm. Key issue is the advancement of the FDM process enabling the direct fabrication of sintered ceramic or metals parts by the new process chain Powder Fused Deposition Modeling. The indi-vidual steps moulding material development, consisting of a binder mixture, additives and ceramic or metal fillers, 3D-printing, and thermal postprocessing have to be researched comprehensively. As a main result, besides the successful printing of dense and defectfree microstructured ceramic or metal parts, correlations between the process parameters and device properties have to be evaluated, from which design rules can be derived.
