Apart from performing thermo-mechanical experiments at different ages, one major goal of the project is to develop a constitutive model for a zinc die-cast alloy taking experiments into account which show the rate- and temperature-dependence at different ages. These phenomena and the thickness-dependence of thin-walled parts will be modeled. The parameters of the constitutive model will be identified in all experiments performed at different loading conditions for tension, compression and torsion with varying temperatures and age. Furthermore, the constitutive model is implemented into a finite element program. The resulting system of differential-algebraic equations, which is based on the spatial discretization using finite elements of the balance of linear momentum, the heat equations and a partial differential equation that captures the thickness-dependence is solved using time-adaptive high-order time-integration schemes. Numerical investigations of the boundary layer effect and different time-scales are performed as well.
