As the speaker of the research unit of the "Jena Experiment" I will have five main tasks. (1) I will represent the Jena Experiment at national and international meetings and conferences. (2) Together with the principle investigators of the coordination subproject (SP Z1), I will continue to offer regular guided field visits for researchers, students, reporters, and the public, we will organize an open day for the public, and make an information/image movie about the design and important findings of the Jena Experiment for people with various backgrounds (public, press, science). (3) I will continue to provide the flexible support female researchers need to facilitate their scientific careers and gender equality. (4) Together with the principle investigators of SP Z1, I will coordinate the scientific activities in the Jena Experiment (e.g., organize meetings of the research unit, manage internal and external requests, promote international networking with other biodiversity experiments, and provide the flexible support a research unit with a huge experimental infrastructure needs, such as in the case of environmental disturbances). (5) I will guide the exploration of options for a potential new research unit of the Jena Experiment.
