项目摘要

本研究課題「合理的なフィクションとしての道徳と道徳的介入の限界」は、「道徳懐疑論を前提としたときに合理的なフィクションとして我々はいかなる内容の道徳を受け入れるべきか」という問いに具体的かつ詳細な解答を与えることを目的としている。初年度である令和3年度においては、本研究課題の基礎的な部分といえる道徳懐疑論、すなわち、「我々は道徳的真理について何も知らない」という主張部分に関する研究が進められた。近年、懐疑論一般に関する研究として、後期ウィトゲンシュタインの所謂『確実性の問題』において展開されていると解釈される、「蝶番認識論（hinge epistemology）」と呼ばれる分野がD. PritchardやA. Colivaらの認識論者の貢献によって勃興している。蝶番認識論によれば、何かを問うたり疑ったり、探究したりするには、特定のことについては疑いの範疇から除外されていなければならならない。こうした疑いから排除される命題は「蝶番（hinge）」と呼ばれ、我々の認識活動において特異な位置を占める、とされる。当該研究者は、PritchardおよびColivaの展開する、この蝶番のもつ特異性に立脚して外界懐疑論を中心とした諸々の懐疑論への応答戦略を整理および精査し、いずれの論者の理論も現状のままでは成功しているとは言い難い、ということを示した。この成果の本研究課題に照らしての意義としてしては、道徳懐疑論に対して、一定の道徳的命題は「蝶番」であるのだ、と応答する戦略が一般的なかたちで退けられる、ということがある。
