项目摘要

2022年度は、歌舞伎とメディアの関係について林又一郎旧蔵フィルムの整理・考証と、その公開に貢献した。1920年代から30年代を中心とする戦前の上方歌舞伎の舞台と俳優の日常を記録した貴重なフィルムを、年代考証と人物特定、フィルムの価値自体の位置づけなどを、同時代の新聞雑誌等による証言と突き合わせ、また諸芸能の研究成果を参照して人物写真を収集博覧することで特定をおこなった。それらの調査成果を、国立フィルムアーカイブにおける上映会での2時間におよぶ解説、歌舞伎学会における2時間半におよぶ解説と公開対談等によって公表した。また、国際的な比較にもとづく演劇とメディアの関係については、早稲田大学とバーミンガム大学を中核とした国際シェイクスピア研究集会における招聘講演において、17世紀から18世紀にかけての歌舞伎上演と、シェイクスピア上演との類似性について触れた。これによって演劇資料にもとづく上演研究の方法をめぐって、シェイクスピア研究者との間での交流を密にして、今後の協力および対話に道をひらくこととなった。さらに、同時代の演劇をめぐるメディア環境を歴史的に考察しながら記録する試みとして、日本で最も歴史ある演劇雑誌「演劇界」の休刊を機に、その内容を継続する雑誌メディアの存続に関わりつつ、劇界の日録単位の記録を残し続ける方策についての試案を連載継続した。同時に、「SNS時代の歌舞伎研究と批評」をめぐる座談会を学会誌に掲載したほか、「演劇の映像配信をめぐって―松竹・NTライブの事例から」と題する座談会において日英双方の事例紹介をつなぎつつ、演劇の映像資料の歴史性について言及、報告書にまとめるを得た。
