本研究の目的は、石清水八幡宮に関わる願文作品とその製作をめぐる状況について明らかにするところにある。報告者はこれまでに、藤原定家が子の為家と二人で書いたと考えられる「定家為家両筆願文」に注目してきた。定家・為家の伝記的資料の一つとして扱われてきたこの仮名願文が、実際は定家・為家自身の私的な内容を述べたものではなく、石清水八幡宮権別当であった田中宗清から依頼を受けて作成された願文群の一つであることを明らかにした。報告者は、2020年度中世文学会秋季大会にて口頭発表をおこなった内容をさらに深め、「八幡名物「定家・為長両筆」考―石清水八幡宮権別当田中宗清願文群の一つとして」と題した論文を執筆した（『中世文学』66、2021年6月）。本年度は、この「定家為家両筆願文」の伝来について考察をおこなった。本願文は、かつて石清水八幡宮に所蔵されていたものであったと考えられる。また、八幡市立松花堂美術館所蔵の「松花堂茶会記」には、松花堂昭乗が、寛永年間の茶会の席において、「定家為家両筆願文」の古筆切の掛軸を茶道具として使用した記録が残っている。藤原定家の古筆が、近世初期の茶道の世界で重んじられたことはよく知られている。特に、松花堂昭乗と小堀遠州はその代表である。前述の八幡名物には、小堀遠州の書状が添付されている。また、『八幡名物記』（彦根城博物館蔵）には、「定家為家両筆願文」について小堀遠州が松花堂昭乗宛に書いた添文の写しが載せられている。本年度は、以上の点について調査をおこなった。次年度以降に成稿化をはかりたい。
