项目摘要

ベトナム戦争における難民の流出から派生することになったベトナム系難民文化について、文献等を中心に基礎研究を継続的に進めた。以下、その概要である。1）すでに課題番号18K00435「太平洋横断的ヴェトナム系アメリカ文化研究の構築にむけて」において進めていた、ベトナム系難民作家 Lan Cao とその娘 Harlan Margaret Van Cao による自伝書 “Family in Six Tones: A Refugee Mother, an American Daughter” の翻訳・出版が、2022年12月に実現した。（『ランとハーランー母は難民、娘はアメリカ生まれ』。）難民母娘による物語りというテーマは、これまで期待されつつも実現されることがほぼなかったがゆえに、関連分野の研究者の意見等を広く聴取し、今後の研究に活かすことになった。カオが抱える戦争トラウマについては、心理学系の研究者、またカオの法曹における活躍は、法学系研究者の関心を集め、これまで文化・文学分野に留まることが多かった研究領域が、学際的に広がる可能性を見いだした。2） 2023年9月に開催予定のアジア系アメリカ文学会年次フォーラムにて、『ランとハーラン』の翻訳作業を通じて得た知見に関する、シンポジウム発表を依頼された。戦争トラウマの表象におけるフィクション（物語）とノンフィクション（自伝）の役割に焦点をあて、ベトナム系アメリカ文学における想像/創造力をテーマに論じる予定。3）日系アメリカ人の第二次世界大戦時、強制収容をテーマに研究を行う Universite du Quebec a Montreal （カナダ）所属の Greg Robinson （教授）と戦後アジア系文学に関する意見交換を行った。また、2023年5月来日予定の同氏の早稲田大学における講義をサポートすることになった。
