前年度の2021年度は、所有構文に観察される定性効果という言語事実を、名詞句の意味機能の視点で捉えなおした。その際、所有動詞の目的語名詞句のもつ意味機能によって、定性効果が生じるかどうかが決まることが分かった。当初の計画では、2022年度は、この名詞句の意味機能を基準にして、一見、所有の概念と関連しないと思われる構文、とりわけ日本語のコピュラ文や存在構文との関係を探る予定であった。しかし、研究を進めていく中で、当該構文の目的語名詞句の意味機能のみならず、目的語名詞句の情報構造および所有動詞の意味との関係性を分析する必要性を感じ、当初の予定を変更した。とりわけ、目的語名詞句の情報構造と動詞の意味との関連を、通言語的な視点から比較検討することを試みた。具体的には、以下の通り、目的語名詞句の情報構造と所有動詞の表す意味との関係性および定性効果との関わりについて日英語の言語間での差異を整理した。①英語とは異なり、日本語の所有構文に定性効果が見られない場合、目的語名詞句が常に新情報を担う。一方、英語には情報構造の点でそのような制約が見られない。②この事実は次のことを示唆している。すなわち、日本語の「いる・ある」と英語の所有動詞とでは、表せる意味内容に相違点がある。今後は、目的語名詞句の情報構造と意味機能との関係性に加えて、日英語以外の言語にも視野を広げて考察したいと考えている。また、新情報を常に要求するthere存在構文との関係性も探る予定である。
