项目摘要

英語学習者の自己意識について以下の２つの研究を行った。１つめは動機づけに関わる研究である。先行研究では、理想的な第二言語ユーザとしての自分を思い描くことができるという第二言語理想自己が、義務や責任と感じる義務自己と比べて、コミュニケーションを図る肯定的な感情と結びつくことがわかっている。本研究では、リンガフランカ自己という概念を提唱し、第二言語自己、リンガフランカ自己、否定的な感情であるシェイムの関係を調べた。リンガフランカ自己とは、多言語ユーザがコミュニケーションする時、相手と協力してコミュニケーションを行う自分を描ける自己意識のことである。前年度に作成した質問紙を240名の大学生に回答してもらって、「第二言語理想自己・義務自己」「リンガフランカ理想自己・義務自己」が「シェイム」をどのように予測するかを検証した。その結果、義務自己がシェイムを強く正の方向で予測する一方で、第二言語理想自己が負の方向に予測する、つまり、否定的な感情を抑制することが明らかになった。加えて、第二言語義務自己と第二言語理想自己は、直接的な関係ではなく、リンガフランカ理想自己を介して相関関係があることが明らかになった。このことから、英語の学習を義務と認識していてもそれが高い理想自己に結びつくのではなく、コミュニケーションを相手との相互努力と捉えるリンガフランカ自己を形成することが第二言語理想自己につながり、シェイムを緩和できるということが言える。２つ目の研究では、多言語話者の言語使用の特徴であるトランスランゲージ（言語間の仕切りにとらわれす言語能力総体を使ってコミュニケーションすること）を認め、英語教員志望の大学生に外国語指導助手との自由対話に取り組ませ、その模様を録音・録画した。これは、そのことを通して学生のアイデンティティがどう創発するかを見るためである。分析は2023年度に行う。
