グローバル化が著しい南部アフリカ諸国では、大都市・地方都市・農村において、大規模な不動産開発や企業による土地取得などの開発が増加している。これらの開発は、経済主体、都市の分布や役割の変化という観点から、南部アフリカの都市に対する理解の再考を迫っている。本研究では、大都市・地方都市・農村で展開するグローバルな経済主体による開発を「都市の再編」という枠組みの中で統合的に可視化することを目的としている。令和4年度は主な調査地であるザンビア共和国への渡航を実現することができた。現地では、農村部からの移動の諸相に関する聞き取り調査を実施した。　聞き取り調査からは、首都ルサカ以外の地域においても経済機会が増加しており、農村住民の移動を促進する要因となっていることが示唆された。また、最新の国勢調査（2022年）の結果が公開されたため、それらを用いて人口動態に関する分析を行った。国勢調査によると、ザンビアの都市人口比率は2010年の39.5％から44.7％に上昇していた。一方、年平均都市人口増加率は、4.2％（2000ー2010）から3.5％（2010ー2022）へと低下していた。州別にみると、首都ルサカが位置するルサカ州の人口増加率がやや緩やかになる傾向がみられた一方、北西州などにおける人口増加率が高まっていることが明らかになった。北西州や中央州の増加は鉱山開発やその他の開発事業との関連性が高いと考えられるため、今後、同地域の都市化の要因についてさらに検討していく必要があることが示唆された。

The survey indicates that opportunities for rural residents to migrate outside the capital city are increasing. The results of the latest national survey (2022) are published and used for analysis of population dynamics. The proportion of urban population in the National Survey increased from 39.5% in 2010 to 44.7% in 2010. The annual average urban population growth rate is 4.2%(2000 - 2010) and 3.5%(2010 - 2022). The population growth rate of each state is higher than that of each other. The development of other development projects in North West and Central States is highly relevant to the future and the main factors of urbanization in the same region.
