貿易政策に対する日欧世論を左右する要因は何か。パンデミックや安全保障要因は大きな影響を与えているのか。この問いを明らかにするという本研究の目的に向けて、2022年度に行ったことは、大きく分けて３つある。第１に、当初の計画通り、イタリアの研究協力者との打合せを重ねたうえで、日本・ドイツ・イタリアの３カ国においてオンラインでのサーベイ実験を実施した。第２に、上述のサーベイ実験で収集されたデータの分析を進めた。その結果、いずれの国においても、人々の貿易政策に対する考え方に対するパンデミックの影響はあまり見られないことが分かった。他方で、安全保障要因が（経済的要因以上に）影響を与えていることが、いずれの国においても確認された。政府レベルのみならず一般の人々においても、そしてアメリカのような大国のみならず日欧諸国においても、国際経済のあり方を考えるにあたって、安全保障や地政学といった要因が重視されていることが確認された。今後の国際貿易体制を考える上で、重要な示唆が得られた。こうした分析結果を踏まえて、学会発表および論文投稿に向けた準備を進めた。第３に、貿易以外の政策に対する人々の意見に、新型コロナがどのような影響を与えているのかについて、世論調査データの分析を行った。新型コロナへの対応として政府が行った政策群（移動の制限や経済補償など）への評価には、政党支持などが影響をしていることが明らかになった。
