项目摘要

多国籍企業の海外子会社は、単独で活動しているのではなく、他の子会社と協業を行っている場合が多い。多くの場合、海外子会社同士の協業は、地理的地域の中に形成される海外子会社のネットワーク内で行われ、多国籍企業はこれにより地域戦略を遂行している。地理的地域内で子会社間の協業がどのように行われ、地域戦略が遂行されているのかを研究するのが本課題の目的である。国々をどのように地理的地域に分割するかは、研究者によって異なる。ヨーロッパ、アジア太平洋、南北アメリカという３地域への分割が先行研究でよく採用される。しかし、企業は、ヨーロッパ、中東、アフリカを１地域として戦略を策定している場合が多い。本課題では、これを考慮した地域分割を行った。本課題では、地域レベルの制度が、どのように地域内海外子会社間の協業に影響を与えているかが１つのサブテーマとなっている。そこで、公式的制度及び非公式的制度の地域内のばらつきを考慮した制度変数を作成した。さらに、多国籍企業の本国と地域との公式的及び非公式的制度の距離を、地域内各国の重要性をウエイトとして数値化を行った。日本企業の海外子会社に関するパネルデータに、これら作成した地域制度変数を加え、多国籍企業の地理的地域内多角化と個別海外子会社のパフォーマンスとの関係に関する分析を行った。この分析は、地域内地理的多角化が、地域内海外子会社間の協業を促進するという考えを前提としている。分析の結果、地理的多角化と子会社のパフォーマンスの間には、非線形の関係があることが示された。さらに、両者の関係を変化させるモデレータの分析も行った。この分析結果は、国際学会で報告された。
