项目摘要

「食と農の社会的懸隔」が広がり、その間隙に「支配的表象」が介在することで、食農間のコミュニケーション、あるいはそれ以前の対象認識や生活態度において、種々のハザードが発生している。議論的アプローチなりレトリカルアプローチに示唆を得た相互行為論の見地から、そのパターンを類型化・一覧化するのが研究目的であった。それにかかわり、種々の事例分析から「支配的な農業・農村表象」についてとりだした。すなわち「ロマンティックな食農表象」「自動農業の夢」「烙印としてのムラ」「フードファクトリーの悪夢」という4類型である。これら複数の表象は「競合・葛藤」するとともに場合により恣意的に「相互補完」しあう関係にもあり、それゆえこれらの表象の使用にも固有の動学と政治が発生する。ここに生じる意図せざる地位強制やラベリングなどが語りづらさの経験に影響し、また、農家の語りにも「議論的でレトリカルな」性質を生じさせているといったように分析することが可能となる。加えて、「支配的な消費者像」についても、資料や文献などから、より安価でより便利なものを追求する「功利主義的・大衆的消費者像」、社会的配慮をおこない消費者運動に参加する「公衆的消費者像」、自己の指向性に準拠した文化的消費にコンサマトリーな充足を感じる「分衆的消費者像」などを設定した。ここにおいて、これまで問題的に捉えられがちだった記号的・物語的消費は、単に顕示的消費や不必要な消費と結びつくばかりではなく、公衆的消費者像および分衆的消費者像とに重なって存在する場合もあると推定できた。これらのコーディングおよび分析枠組みに従って、報告原稿もある程度まで準備することができた。
