本研究は、わが国で乳癌治療を経験した患者を対象とし、Web調査手法を用いて医療介入に対する経済毒性とQOLを検証する横断的前向き観察研究である。本研究は、①医療的介入に対する患者の経済的負担の実態を「経済毒性」と定義して明らかにする、②経済毒性のリスク因子を明らかにする、③経済毒性が患者のQOLに与える影響を明らかにする、④経済毒性が乳癌患者の受療行動や意思決定に与える影響を明らかにすることの4点を目的とし、最終的には経済毒性が患者の生存やQOLに与える影響について解明することを目指した研究である。申請者はWeb調査システム上に、医療的介入に対する乳癌患者の経済毒性をComprehensive Score for Financial Toxicity (COST) Toolを用いて定量的に評価するための評価表を構築した。さらに選好に基づく尺度であるEuroQOL 5 dimensions 5-level（EQ-5D-5L）を用いたQOL値の測定および、患者の乳癌の病状、社会的背景、受療行動、治療選択肢の意思決定の詳細も同時に調査するための調査システムを合わせて構築した。さらに選好に基づく尺度であるEuroQOL 5 dimensions 5-level（EQ-5D-5L）を用いたQOL値の測定および、患者の乳癌の病状、社会的背景、受療行動、治療選択肢の意思決定の詳細も同時に調査するための調査システムを合わせて構築した。調査項目の作成に関しては、臨床研究者だけでなく、臨床研究への患者参画を促進する観点からも患者代表者を含んだ研究協力者とともに具体的な質問と選択肢を構成し、臨床的・社会的意義のある研究が出来るように配慮した。予定症例の500例を登録した。COST尺度による主観的経済毒性の有病率が68%であることを明らかにした。

This study is a cross-section of the study on breast cancer treatment, patient response, and Web investigation methods.
