Understanding the specificity of interspecies interactions between algae and bacteria in red snow by comparative proteomics and environmental monitoring

Preparations have been made for experiments to analyze the genome and physiology of snow algae and their associated bacteria. Confirmation of samples and optimization of laboratory set up, in addition to the planning of experiments to be conducted during the FY2023, has been achieved.Collaboration with a partner university, the Berlin University of Applied Sciences and Technology, has been established for the analysis of snow algal species. Additionally, existing culture collections of snow algae has been analyzed for possible parallel experiments to be conducted to compare snow algae from various sources.
