本研究は、事故情報提供ガイドラインを実証的な知見に基づいて構築することを最終的な到達点とする中で、具体的な目的を、事故発生後の一連のプロセスにおいて、妥当かつ現実的な事故情報の内容の検証、提供される事故情報の量的および質的評価を実施し、当該ガイドラインのための基礎的知見の構築をするものである。また本研究の最終的な目的の一つは、わが国の文化的、法的背景に適合し、医療機関側にとって実践可能であり、かつ患者側にも受け入れることができる事故情報提供ガイドラインを、実証的な知見に基づいて構築することを目指す中で、事故発生後の医療機関と患者の関係性を、一連のプロセスとして捉え、その諸段階において、医療機関側のみならず、患者側にとっても妥当かつ現実的な事故情報の内容とはいかなるものであるかを検証し、提供される事故情報の量的、および質的把握とその評価を行うことにより、具体的な事故情報提供ガイドライン構築のための基礎的知見を構築することにある。こうした点を踏まえ、本研究においては、これまで公開されているオーストラリアのOpen Disclosure Frameworkを中心に分析を行い、事故情報提供の基本的な考え方、提供時期、提供される情報の内容、実施者がどのようなものであるか等の検討を行った。さらにわが国の医療機関における事故情報提供体制、具体的には、事故情報提供体制に関するルールの有無、その内容、実際の事故における当該体制による情報提供経験の有無等に関する調査のための検討を行い、その実証的な検証のための準備を行った。また調査対象となる担当者や担当部局に関して、緊急時対応の状況が続く中で、調査実施の具体的な可能性に関しての検討を行い、具体的な対応を協議し、より具体的な実施計画を検討した。
