本研究は琉球絵画の師である孫億作品の表現・技法・画材の観点から、本画の模写を行い、表現手法について解明することが目的である。琉球絵画作品の多くは、第二次世界大戦の影響で消失している。そのため「琉球絵画」の表現や技法、画材等の詳細については、未だ解明されていないことが多い。貝摺奉行所の絵師たちの師である孫億作品の表現・技法・画材を明らかにすることで、琉球の絵師たちがどのようにそれらを継承し、独自の技法を生み出したのか。「琉球絵画」の研究をさらに開拓していく上で、孫億作品の模写を行うことを目的としている。本年度は前年度に引き続き、作品の基底材調査を中心とした熟覧調査を行った。当初は《花鳥図巻》の調査を予定していたが、作品保存の観点から実物の調査が厳しいことから、前年度から計画を一部変更し、沖縄県内に収蔵される作品に限定して調査を行うこととした。前年度は、沖縄県立博物館・美術館に収蔵されている孫億作品３点の調査を行った。調査には、基底材の分析にあたり、所属大学の染織分野を研究される新田摂子氏の、また技法の分析に同大学の喜屋武千恵氏に調査協力をいただいた。本年度においても、沖縄県内に現存する孫億作品として、美ら島財団が収蔵している作品６点の熟覧調査を引き続き行なった。これまでの調査結果をもとに、裏彩色の情報や色材の情報が多く残っている作品１点に焦点をあてて模写を行うため、基底材の再現及び、材料を選定していくことを行なった。
