本研究では、島の効果について、島の内部から移動が許される場合、許されない場合の特徴を、ラベリング分析で説明することを目的としている。2022年度は、2021年度で研究を行った、分裂文の分析を援用し、更に黒木 (2016) で文献収集した主語の島効果のデータを合わせて、主語の島効果を捉え直すことができないか検討した。具体的には、ラベリング分析を用いたCriterial Freezingの捉え直しから、ラベルが決まっていない限りにおいては、移動が可能である、ということを導き出し、主語の島効果の緩和 (TP指定部に主語が移動しない場合には、主語内からの抜き取りが可能になることがある、という一般的特徴) にも援用可能であるかどうかを検討している。ラベル付算法 (Labeling Algorithm) はフェイズ単位でTransfer操作時に適用される、という考えを踏襲するのであれば、v*Pフェイズの指定部にある要素のラベルが決定しなかった場合、CPフェイズの段階で、v*Pフェイズの指定部内の要素にアクセス可能であると考えられる。しかしながら、大きな課題として、主語がv*Pフェイズに留まった場合、ラベルが決定されないままとなってしまう。今年度はこの課題をどのように解決するか、文献調査を含めて検討したい。また、西ウェルケス語の、所有を表す要素が、特定の状況下において島の効果を示すことを論じたErshova (2022) の分析も興味深いため、現在検討中の分析で説明ができないかどうか検討を進めている。
