本研究では、日本人英語学習者にとって習得が難しく、自発的に使えるようになるまで時間がかかるとされている関係代名詞に注目し、ヨーロッパで出版されているELTコースブック及び日本の中学校・高等学校で使用されている検定教科書で関係代名詞がどのように導入・説明・練習されているかを比較・分析し、より効果的な関係代名詞の学習につながる示唆を得ることを目的としている。令和4年度は中学校の検定教科書を中心に、各教科書のテキストデータ化を進めた。手順としては、OCR搭載のスキャナーで教科書をスキャンしてテキストデータ化し、正確にスキャンされなかった箇所やフォーマットについて手作業での修正作業を行った。また、これまでにテキストデータ化を進めてきたELTコースブックデータに関しても、データ全体のフォーマット統一の作業を行った。すでに完成しているテキストデータに関しては、関係代名詞が使われている箇所の特定とタグ付けを行っている。特に、ELTコースブックのテキストデータのフォーマット統一や、日本語と英語が混ざる中学校の教科書で正確にスキャンされなかった箇所に対する手作業による修正作業に時間を要している。今後は、これまでの作業を継続すると同時に、高校の検定教科書についてもテキストデータ化を進めていく予定である。データが揃い次第、1) 関係代名詞がどのように導入・説明されているか、2) どのような練習問題が含まれているか、3) 教科書全体でどのようなタイプの関係代名詞が用いられているか、を示すアノテーションの付与を継続して行う。これらの関係代名詞に関するデータが揃い次第集計し、レベルごと・教科書ごとに比較・分析する。
