项目摘要

研究活動及び、企業のイノベーション活動に関する実証研究として二つの分析を行った。一つ目は、日本の明治時代の綿糸紡績産業のデータを用い、 De Loecker et al. (2020)の生産アプローチによる企業の市場支配力推定を行なった。本研究を開始するに当たっては異動先である大阪大学社会経済研究所のSerguey Braguinsky教授にデータの使用について協力を仰ぎ、データとその作成過程についての詳細な情報をいただいている。暫定的であるが、幾つかの結果を得た。その一つとして、少なくとも、ハイエンド製品のみを生産している企業のマークアップの分布は、ローエンドのみを生産している企業のマークアップの分布と有意に異なり、かなり大きい傾向にあるということを確認した。第二に、企業は製品多角化を行うと、そうしなかった企業に比べて有意にその後のマークアップが向上する可能性があるということをStaggered DID分析を用いて確認した。その際近年のStaggered DIDによって捉えられる処置効果の異質性の問題に対処した。これらの結果により、企業のイノベーション活動と市場支配力についての示唆が得られることが期待できる。二つ目の分析としては、一橋大学の中島賢太郎氏の協力を仰ぎ、明治期以降の日本の特許発明者のデータを使用させていただき、大卒者の技術傾向が、非大卒の技術傾向に影響を与えるかを分析し、幾つかの暫定的な結果を得た。特許データが時系列データである特性を活かし、両者の特許発明傾向を変数として用いてベクトル自己回帰モデルを推定した。その結果、これまでのところ、大卒者の特許発明傾向は後者の特許発明傾向に対してのグレンジャー因果性があることを確認できること、インパルスリスポンス応答関数により外生的なショックを与えた時、その影響はあまり強くないものの正であることを確認した。
