本研究は，自己報告によらない手法である潜在連合テストで測定される「潜在的シャイネス」を低減させる手法を同定するほか，その低減効果がどの程度持続するのかを検討することを目指している。これまで，コロナ禍にあって対面を前提としていた各種実験が実施できずにいたが，その影響が少しずつ改善してきたことにより，当初予定していた介入を伴う実験の一つを開始することができた。たとえば，顕在的シャイネスには影響を及ぼすことが確認されている構成的グループ・エンカウンターが，潜在的シャイネスにも影響を及ぼすか否かを検討する実験を開始できた。しかしながら，現時点では参加者数が十分ではなく，継続したデータ収集が必要である。その他，昨年度と同様に，コロナ禍においても実施可能な調査・実験の方法をもとに，新たなデータを収集したり，これまでの研究成果を公表したりすることができた。例を挙げると，第2言語のスキル上昇を目指す集中講義の受講の前後において，顕在的・潜在的シャイネスが変容するか否かを検討することができた。平均値のレベルでは顕在的・潜在的シャイネスのいずれも変容しなかったが，個人レベルでは特に潜在的シャイネスの変化にばらつきがあることが分かり，介入が効果を持ちやすい場合とそうでない場合があることが示唆された。また，顕在的・潜在的シャイネスが第2言語におけるWillingness To Communicate（WTC）に及ぼす影響を検討した結果，WTCには顕在的シャイネスよりも潜在的シャイネスの方が影響を及ぼしていることを確認できた。すなわち，潜在的シャイネスを低減させることにより，第2言語におけるWTCを高められる可能性が示された。上記の他，シンポジウムにおける話題提供などを通じて，本研究の成果やコロナ禍における調査・実験の工夫等について，情報を発信することができた。
