项目摘要

本研究は、湿性草原棲の小型鳥類4種（絶滅危惧種2種を含む）を指標として、冬季において、①統一的な基準で耕作放棄地の生態的価値の広域的な評価を試み、②生態的価値が高い耕作放棄地の特徴と成立条件を明らかにするものである。①については、対象4種の全国規模の越冬調査を3冬季で実施し、越冬個体の耕作放棄地の生息割合を地方毎に定量化する。これによって、耕作放棄地の生態的価値を統一的に評価でき、地方間の比較も可能となる。②については、対象4種の越冬が既に確認されている関東地方にて、耕作放棄地の履歴・管理手法・植生構造と、対象4種の越冬状況に関する詳細な情報を収集し、湿性草原棲鳥類の保全において生態的価値が高い耕作放棄地の特徴と成立条件を明らかにする。これらの結果を統合し、耕作放棄地を巡る社会的問題と生物多様性および絶滅危惧鳥類の保全の両立について提言する。①耕作放棄地の生態的価値の広域的な評価については、野外調査の実施を予定していた8地方のうち、東北・北陸・近畿・中国・四国の5地方について野外調査を実施し、対象1種の中国・四国地方の越冬状況について鳥類学専門誌に論文を投稿した。また、前年度に投稿していた九州地方の越冬状況についての論文が受理・掲載された。②についてはデータ解析を継続した。
