项目摘要

本年は１.仏像の実地調査、２.調査対象となる仏像の把握、３.資料整理・蓄積の項目ごとに調査研究を進めた。１.では、新型コロナウィルス感染症の影響により堂内での調査およびインタビューを行うことが難しかったため、関連する展覧会での調査と屋外に設置された仏像の調査を行った。調査を行った展覧会は以下の通りである。大阪市立美術館「天平礼賛」、上原美術館「知られざる伊豆の仏教美術」、神奈川県立歴史博物館「相模川流域のみほとけ」、龍谷ミュージアム「ほとけと神々大集合－岡山・宗教美術の名宝－」、「仏像ひな型の世界Ⅱ」、横浜市歴史博物館「横浜の仏像」、浜松市美術館「みほとけのキセキ－遠州・三河の寺宝展－」において、近世～近代の仏像とその宗教的・歴史的背景について調査を行った。また東京都内を中心に、京都府宇治市、長野県茅野市、愛知県西尾市、静岡県静岡市の寺院境内や路地等に設置された仏像の調査を行った。特に新型コロナウィルス感染症の流行から、疫病と仏像の関係に着目し、天然痘やコレラなど過去に疫病が流行した際に作られた仏像を重点的に調査すると共に、仏像にマスクを奉納する事例についても調査を行った。その成果は国際日本文化研究センター共同研究会「蜘蛛の巣上の無明：電子情報網生態系下の身心知の将来」において、「パンデミックと仏像－なぜ地蔵にマスクをつけるのか？－」として発表した。２.では、本研究の研究対象である近代における仏像の作例を、近代美術史の書籍および展覧会図録、石仏に関連した書籍、宗教系新聞の記事およびインターネット上の記事から抽出し、リスト化し、今後の調査に備えた。３.では、（１）実地調査および、文献から得られた情報をテキストデータ化しコンピュータへ入力した。（２）実地調査にて撮影した写真をデジタル化した。（３）テキストデータ、画像データを統合するデータベースの作成準備にかかった。
