本研究には2つの目的がある。1つは、17世紀全般の女性作家の創作活動が、その後のイギリス小説の展開にどのように貢献したかを明らかにすること、もう1つは、17世紀前半における貴族の館での演劇上演への女性の多様な関わりが、その後の英国演劇活動の展開にどのように影響したかも探究することである。本研究は3部構成であり、2022年度は第2部（海外での第一次資料収集・調査）に着手し、第3部（第1・2部の取りまとめ）の準備を更に進めた。コロナ禍の影響等により、本研究の一部は2023年度以降に延期となったが、第1部（先行研究分析と17世紀全般に英国で出版された男性・女性作家による作品の収集・分析）を更に発展させることもできた。大英図書館では、17世紀英国で出版された女性作家の散文ロマンスや演劇等に加え、18・19世紀以降の演劇上演文化への英国女性の関わりについての第一次資料収集に着手した。現在、収集した資料の調査を進めている。2021年に現代版テキストが出版されて以来、欧米で注目が集まっている17世紀後半の散文ロマンスRivall Friendship（創作年は1665年から1685年頃、執筆者の候補は、英国女性ブリジット・マニンガム）の調査・分析を行いながら、その後のイギリス小説の展開に女性が如何に貢献したかに関する調査も進めている。17世紀以降に英国やヨーロッパ大陸等で出版された男性・女性作家の多様な作品（散文ロマンス、演劇、翻訳、演劇上演広告ビラ・チラシ、詩集、日記、手紙等）相互間の比較研究や、当時のジェンダー観に関わる出版物の調査も引き続き行った。これらの研究に取り組む過程で、英国の出版社から出版予定の論文集（国内外の研究者が寄稿予定）へアブストラクトを投稿し、国内外の学会で研究発表も行った。英語・日本語論文の執筆も進めることができ、これらの成果は随時査読誌に投稿予定である。
