项目摘要

本研究では、これまでの研究が着目してこなかった強制的学校色覚撤廃運動期を色盲観の構造的変化が見られた重要な時期と考え、主にこの時期に学校色覚検査を経験した色覚異常当事者のライフストーリーや関連資料を収集し分析している。本年度は本研究課題採択後３年目である。当初の研究計画では、収集した資料の分析と成果報告を中心に適時追加の資料収集と分析を行うことを予定していたが、感染症拡大による影響は継続しており、特に当事者の語りや資料の収集に遅れが継続的に生じた。これまで収集した資料の整理と分析の継続を中心に、色覚異常当事者のライフストーリーの語り、及び当事者が記した自伝や、関連する小説や作品なども収集対象として広く資料を集めた。加えて、障害学に関する理論的研究を進めることで、近年議論がされている新たな障害理論の枠組みについて、本研究の色覚問題分析から見えてきた視点がどのような位置付けとなり得るのかについて考察を進めた。これまでの分析では、学校色覚検査経験について、彼／彼女らの「打ち明けるようなことじゃない」ものという色盲観の構築過程が明らかになりつつある。障害学の視点から、本研究が着目する強制的学校色覚検査撤廃運動期は、色覚検査不合格者を色覚の欠損や異形成と捉える医学モデル的色盲観から、そのような色盲観の社会的構築性を指摘する社会モデル的色盲観へと転換する移行期であった可能性について考察を進めている。現時点では、撤廃運動期はその後の選択的学校色覚検査期における色盲観との理論的関連性がみられる。これまでの研究では明らかにされていない撤廃運動期における色盲観の構築という新たな視点を提供する可能性を示唆していると考えられる。また、近年議論が高まりつつあるよりよい学校色覚検査のあり方について、障害学の理論的枠組みから議論するための土台となる新たな視角を提起する可能性がある。
