本研究は、発展途上国のアスリートを公的に支援するというスポーツを通じた国際協力事業に対して抱く国民の評価の可視化、評価に影響を与える要因の特定ならびに評価の形成メカニズムを明らかにすることを目的とする。2022年度はこれまで実施した面接調査および新聞記事などの資料収集結果をもとに質問紙を作成し，調査を実施した。スポーツが社会にもたらす心理的ベネフィットを公共財とみなし、仮想市場法を用いてその便益を推計されてきた。対象はプロスポーツチームやエリートスポーツ政策などの実践例がある。そこで、本調査は仮想市場法を用いて、海外選手の受け入れ事業に対する市民の支払意思額、および総評価額を算出することとした。調査対象のA市在住の成人（18歳以上の男女）の社会調査モニターを対象とするインターネット調査を2023年3月に実施した。性別および年齢階層は国勢調査の分布と均等になるよう層化した。本研究で評価対象とする事業は、プロスポーツチームやエリートスポーツ政策を比較すると、国民に広く認識されている普遍的な事業とは言いがたい。そこで、本研究では、前提条件として、自治体が実施する途上国の選手の受け入れ事業を知っていると答えた回答者のみにWTPを訪ねた。CVMの設計は、仮定として財政悪化により今後途上国選手の受け入れ事業が中止となり、市民から寄付を集める場合、趣旨に賛同して寄付するか否か、また寄付すると回答した場合はその確実性について回答を求めた。確実性が高いと回答した者に、WTPを自由回答形式で尋ねた。調査結果は2023年度に学会発表や論文投稿を通じて社会発信する予定である。
