项目摘要

本研究の目的は、「保守化」している評される昨今のインドネシアのイスラーム社会における女性たちの装いに着目し、当事者へのインタビュー、テキスト分析、悉皆調査を用いて、女性たちのミクロな語りとその背後にある言説、そして全体像を明らかにすることにある。4年間で実施する研究内容として、A) 首都ジャカルタと地方都市マカッサルの大学生と住民の女性たちを対象とする装いに関する悉皆的調査、B)ニカーブ着用者およびヴェール非着用者への聴き取り調査、語りの分析、C)装いの選択や実践を支えるイスラーム的言説分析と設定した。4年目の2022年度は、複数の出版物を通じてこれまでの研究成果を発表することができた。主なものには、ニカーブ着用者への聞き取りをもとにした「インドネシア：変身する女性と社会―近年のチャダル着用現象を事例に」（上記Bに関連）、ヴェール着用者と非着用者の言説をまとめた「ムスリマのヴェールをめぐる議論と実践―インドネシアを事例に」（BとCに関連）、1970年代末に他に先駆けてヴェールを着用しその後の大学生や高校生の間でのヴェール着用運動の火付け役となった女性の思いと活動を論じた「大学モスクの女性活動家の先駆者」（Cに関連）などがある。また2022年度には新型コロナウィルスの感染拡大が収束し、ようやく調査地であるインドネシアに渡航できるようになった。9月には2年半ぶりに現地調査を実施し、これまでに関係を作ってきた複数のインフォーマントに会い情報をアップデートした。また、近年のムスリムファッション業界の発展に関し、複数のデザイナーやブティック、政府のサポート体制を知るために関連省庁への聞き取りも実施した。この成果は、10月末に行われた糸・布・衣の循環史研究会主催のシンポジウム『ファッションが産業になる：フランス，アメリカ，日本，ソ連，イタリアの過去とインドネシアの現在』で報告した。
