项目摘要

【研究目的】東南アジアの無形文化遺産に焦点を置き、1.形のないものとしての無形文化遺産の資料化の現状、2.無形文化遺産の資料化における継承当事者の視点、3.資料化された無形文化遺産の活用の現状と可能性の考察を目的とした。【研究方法】一次資料・二次資料の検証を行い、東南アジアにおける成果発表とディスカッションを実施した。【研究成果】国際連合教育科学文化機関（以下ユネスコ）の1972年世界遺産条約以後、文化遺産保護の世界的潮流は、有形文化遺産に焦点を置いた。しかし、2003年にはユネスコによる無形文化遺産（Intangible Cultural Heritage, ICH）の保護に関する条約が誕生した。これにより、東南アジアを含め、無形文化の豊富な世界の多地域が文化的賞賛をうける可能性が拡大した。1990年代から有形文化遺産保護の機運が高まった東南アジアでは、ICHに関心を持つ機関・団体との交流等を通して、無形文化遺産保護に対する関心が徐々に拡大している。多様な文化集団を内包する東南アジアにおける無形文化は、諸集団の生活体系・自然環境に密接に結びついたものである。市民が日常生活領域において、手習いや修行、あるいは共同体行事を通して継承するものであるともいえる。当該地域の多くの無形文化遺産およびその「保存」とは、継承者自身が草の根で担うことそのものであり、「資料化」の試みにはこの視点が必要となる。他方、公的・民間を問わず、博物館等の文化遺産保護機関では、物質文化中心の保存・展示と観光促進キャンペーンが継続している。無形文化の保存・展示・資料化にも、物質文化の保護アプローチが採用されていることがある。実践としての無形文化遺産という視点を包摂した総合的な遺産保護アプローチの重要性が内外から指摘され始めている。
