项目摘要

本研究の目的は、科学実践のシャドウ・ワークがどのように生成し、どのように変容するのかを明らかにすることである。基盤的活動を、科学実践に必要不可欠であるが不可視化されている活動領域とする。そして科学のシャドウ・ワークを、基盤的活動が何らかの状況要因のもとで「負担的な活動」として問題化している活動領域とする。ビッグサイエンスに向かう複数の学術分野を比較対象として、横断的に分析することで、より広範囲の現象に適用可能なフレームワークの確立を進める。２０２２年度は、これまで文献調査等で予備調査を進めてきた各領域（宇宙科学、農学、情報科学、法科学）における事例検討を行った。各領域で、関係者へのヒアリング調査、観察調査を行い、関連する理論や産業事例を踏まえた上で、科学のシャドウ・ワーク化にかかわる要因を分析した。特に、以下に述べる科学技術の現代的変化（の影響）を想定し、その影響プロセスを検討した。第一は、科学実践の大型プロジェクト化の影響である。第二は、情報技術の進展によるデータ駆動型サイエンスの浸透である。これらの急激な変化に対し、学会コミュニティが組織として対応仕切れていないという一般的な問題があると想定し、これに関する項目の詳細な聞き取り調査を進めた。個別領域の事例を分析する一方で、プロジェクト全体としては評価論の理論整備も進めた。当初計画からの変更点として、調査対象領域の変更（情報科学を調査対象に追加）、ならびに、科学の周辺的活動に関する歴史的経緯の検討が挙げられる。２０２０年度・２０２１年度に新型コロナウイルスの影響により、現場調査への着手が遅れたため、こうした変更を行った。
