项目摘要

本年度もコロナ禍のため、一部の日本国内での調査を除き、海外での現地調査をすることが困難であった。しかし、本研究課題にも関連する隣接しかつ重要な課題へと臨機応変にシフトしながら、国内で遂行可能な範囲において、新たな研究の進捗を見ることができた。併行して、可能な範囲で中世を対象とした仏教建築の事例を調査し、新しい視点から考察を加えた。研究代表者の野村は、禅院建築にとどまらず、関係する中世仏堂の実態調査を精力的に進めた。現存する歴史的建造物を対象に、内見が難しい内部空間の意匠・技法をも含め、愛知・鳥取・島根・熊本のものを中心に、多くの情報収集を実行した。また、東北歴史博物館で過去に行った展示「伝わるかたち／伝えるわざ――伝達と変容の日本建築」の内容をブラッシュアップさせ、書籍『伝達と変容の日本建築史――伝わるかたち／伝えるわざ』として刊行し、日本の木造建築をめぐる情報伝達の諸相と系譜を詳らかにした。研究分担者のひとり川本慎自は、室町期の相国寺周辺で見られた唐物「■（業＋おおざと）瓦硯」に関する言説を検討し、それが北山殿（金閣）を漢・建章宮と重ね合わせる認識を支える文物の一つとなっていることを考察した。鈴木智大は平安時代後期の僧・成尋が著した北宋時代の中国大陸旅行記となる『参天台五臺山記』を対象に、そこに見る建築用語の確認と考察を行い、貫と長押など建築部材の区別についての体系の一端を示した。
