项目摘要

本研究は、ヨーロッパの芸術運動であるシュルレアリスムが、ハイチにおける民間宗教や人々の生活と深く結びついた芸術のあり方にヒントを得て、第二次世界大戦後の活動を発展させたという仮説を証明することである。そのために、第三年度にあたる2022年度は、これまでに研究がほとんどされていないハイチの画家エクトル・イポリットに関する調査を精力的に進めた。当初、この謎に包まれたヴードゥー教の画家の活動の全体を明らかにするために、ハイチ、アメリカへの実地調査を実施したいと考えていたが、状況が許さなかった。ハイチは2021年の大統領暗殺事件以来、治安が非常に悪化しており、翌年10月から「レベル４　退避勧告」が出されている状況である。そのため、今年度もハイチでの実地調査は諦め、日本で手に入れることのできる書物を中心に、エクトル・イポリットの創作については論文としてまとめているところである。次年度のアメリカとフランスでの調査を終えてから、完成させて発表する予定である。また、第二次世界大戦後におけるヨーロッパの芸術の潮流における「原始的なもの」「素朴なもの」に関する調査を進めた。特にこの時代、シュルレアリスムとも関係のあった前衛芸術CoBrAにおけるこの関心を明らかにしながら、シュルレアリスムの考えを相対的な視点から再考した。これに関しては「コブラとシュルレアリスム」という題名の論文にまとめた（2023年9月刊行の予定）。
