スペイン語はスペインだけではなくラテンアメリカを包括する広域言語である。20以上の国と地域で5億を越える人々に用いられる言語には当然地域的な変異が生まれる。本研究はスペイン語の「統語的側面」に的をしぼり、現地におけるアンケート調査によってスペイン語圏全体の地域的バリエーションを追究する目的をもつ。具体的には、スペイン語圏の約30都市で文法研究において問題になりやすいテーマを含む110程度の文について現地被験者に判断を求めるもので、2001年以来これまで20年余りの調査結果を集積（https://lecture.ecc.u-tokyo.ac.jp/~cueda/varigrama/index.html）し、分析・発表を行ってきた。2020年にはスペインのサンティアゴ・デ・コンポステーラ大学から刊行された『スペイン語のデジタル方言学』Dialectologia digital del espanol (Angel Gallego他編)に本研究に関する1章「世界のスペインの文法バリエーション：スペイン語の統語特徴の展望」"Variacion gramatical del espanol en el mundo (VARIGRAMA): una vision panoramica de los rasgos sintacticos del espanol”(代表者高垣および分担者共著）が所収された。その一方で、このような調査の途上で新たな課題が生まれてきた。スペイン語圏の特定地域における特異な文法的変異である。具体的には南米アンデス山岳地域における「目的語人称代名詞 loおよびleの特徴的ふるまい」で、先住民語の影響を受けていると言われている。本年度はこの「局所的な変異」の実態を検証すべくボリビア、コチャバンバにおいて現地アンケートを実施し、興味深い成果を得ることができた。
