项目摘要

第二言語習得研究分野では、複雑系理論の登場により、個々の学習者の長期的な発達の仕方（個人内発達）が研究されるようになった。申請者らも複雑系理論を用いたこれまでの研究で、日本人英語学習者が同一のライティングタスクを1年間繰り返した場合、個人のライティング発達に特定のパタンが生まれることを明らかにしてきた。しかし、これまでの研究では少数の個人の発達パタンの比較にとどまっているため、一般化が難しかった。そこで本研究では500名を超える学習者について、混合軌跡モデリングなどの新たな統計手法を用い、個人内発達パタンを分類・モデル化する。その上で、作文やインタビューを質的に分析することで、それぞれの個人内発達パタンにつながる要因を明らかにする。具体的には、本研究は以下の3点を明らかにすることを目的とする。(1) ライティング力の個人内発達はどのように分類できるのか。(2) 異なる個人内発達パタンはどの要因によって最も適切にモデル化できるのか。(3) (2)で明らかになった要因はどのような状況や背景から生まれたのか。2022年度には、概ね研究計画通りに、発達パタンの要因分析を行った。general growth mixture modeling（一般成長混合モデリング）を用い、モデル化を行った上で、質的な分析も行った。その分析について、学術雑誌の編集者から、日本語データの分析をより詳しく行ったほうがよいという指摘も受けたので、今後進めていく予定である。
