本研究課題の目的は、アメリカ合衆国の排外主義/レイシズムの生成・発展の歴史的過程を時間軸にそって、①南北戦争～再建期、②ポスト再建期（1877ー1890年頃）、③革新主義期（1890年代ー第一次世界大戦）、④戦間期（1920年代ー30年代）と区分して、各時代の排外主義/レイシズムの担い手、運動の政治的資源、運動の特徴を詳細に検討し、その時代区分ごとに、黒人差別、移民差別、科学・思想史的差別がどのように統合されていくのかを検証することである。研究計画三年目の2022年度は、21世紀においてなお猛威を振るうアメリカ社会の排外主義/レイシズムの生成・発展の歴史的過程とその特質を、現代アメリカの起点となる③革新主義期を中心に検討を行った。この時代の基礎文献は、移民史関連のとりわけカリフォルニア州に関するものはすでに収集済であったが、東海岸のニューヨーク、ボストンなどにおける地方政治や当地を中心とした移民制限連盟などの資料、人種隔離社会となった南部の地方政治や同時代に集中的に建設された旧南部連合関連の記念碑や南軍将軍の銅像などの建設過程に関する史資料を集めることができた。また、連邦政治では南北戦争後、最初の南部人として南部民主党に推薦され大統領となったウッドロー・ウィルソンの内政・外交に関する史資料を多く集めた。当初予定していた米国の議会図書館、国立公文書館での史料調査は実施することができなかった。

The purpose of this study is to analyze the process of the formation and development of the United States 'xenophobia/revolution system. The Timeline is divided into three parts: (1) the North-South conflict and the reconstruction period, and (2) the reconstruction period.(1877 - 1890), ③ Reformist period (1890s-First World Congress), 4-period (1920s-30s), division, the role of exclusionism in various eras, the political resources of the movement, the characteristics of the movement, the division of different eras, the differences between blacks, immigrants, the differences between science and the history of thought, and the integration of the two. The research plan for the year 2022 is to discuss the process, characteristics, and starting point of social exclusion and development in the 21st century. The basic literature of this era, the relationship between immigration history and the relationship between immigration history, the relationship between immigration history and immigration history, the relationship between immigration history, the The historical data concerning the construction process of the monument to the old South Union and the statue of the general of the South Army were collected. After the war between the North and the South, the Southern Democratic Party recommended a large number of historical data on internal affairs and foreign affairs. The investigation of historical materials by the U.S. Congressional Library and the National Public Library has been carried out as originally planned.
